Architects: A Profound Journey Through Heavy Music

Origins and Early Days

Hailing from Brighton, England, Architects emerged in 2004 as a promising metalcore band. The founding members included vocalist Sam Carter, guitarist Tom Searle, bassist Ali Dean, and drummer Matt Finch. Their debut album, "Ruin," released in 2007, showcased their raw energy and melodic sensibilities.

Challenging Conventions and Ascendance

Architects faced challenges early on, including lineup changes and the loss of guitarist Tim Hillier to a tragic suicide. Despite these setbacks, they persevered and released a string of critically acclaimed albums. "Hollow Crown" (2009), "The Here and Now" (2011), and "Daybreaker" (2012) solidified their status as a force in heavy music.

Evolution and Anthem of the Year

With each album, Architects evolved their sound, incorporating elements of progressive metal and atmospheric soundscapes. Their 2014 masterpiece, "Lost Forever // Lost Together," garnered widespread recognition and earned them the prestigious Kerrang! Award for "Album of the Year." The album's haunting title track, "Animals," became a defining anthem for the band.

Controversies and Tragedy

Architects' outspoken lyrics and political stance have occasionally sparked controversy. Their song "Gone with the Wind" (2020) drew criticism for its perceived support of the Black Lives Matter movement. Tragically, guitarist Tom Searle passed away in 2016 after a battle with cancer, leaving an immeasurable void in the band.

Current Lineup and Continued Success

Following Searle's passing, Architects welcomed guitarist Josh Middleton. The band's subsequent albums, "Holy Hell" (2018) and "For Those That Wish to Exist" (2021), showcased their continued growth and resilience. They have established themselves as one of the most influential heavy metal bands of the 21st century.
