CC the Cat formed in 1995 around songwriter and vocalist Chris Carrabba. Their 1999 album 'Getaway' included the song 'Homeless,' which became their most recognized track.
Carrabba's lyrics often dealt with personal struggles, and the band's music drew attention for its introspective tone. They worked through early financial difficulties and label issues while developing their sound.
Their material resonated with listeners who connected with themes of displacement and isolation. The band maintained a following despite facing some criticism for their darker lyrical content.
