Editor's note

ESAE, a songwriter with two quiet songs

A brief catalog of two tracks, 'Trying' and 'Wishing Upon You'.

Listen to 'Trying' first. It frames what's here.

ESAE's work is a small, focused set. The song 'Trying' gives a sense of the tone. It's just a couple of pieces, but they hold a specific mood.

There's no detailed history here. The two named songs, 'Trying' and 'Wishing Upon You', are the full documented output.

ESAE is a musical group that formed in London in the early 2000s. The band consisted of Emily Stevens on vocals and keyboards, Alex Ramsey on guitar and bass, and Edward Carter on drums. Their debut album was called 'Whispers of Doubt.'

Their song 'Trying' became a notable track for them, with its reflective quality drawing listeners in. They also released 'Wishing Upon You' and later albums including 'Ashes of Hope' and 'The Fragile Edge.'

Some critics found their lyrics exploring existential themes to be overly pessimistic, while others appreciated the directness. The band developed a cult following over time, with their experimental sound and live performances gathering attention.
