G.R.C.E.S Dom Bosco is a samba school from the Santo Cristo neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro. It was founded in 1929 by a small group of musicians and dancers. The school has been performing samba enredos for decades, including songs like 'Sinfonia Brasileira' in 2023 and 'O Alimento da Alma É o Dom do Conhecimento' in 2022.
Their 2023 samba enredo, 'Sinfonia Brasileira,' was a celebration of Brazil's musical diversity, touching on indigenous, African, and European influences. The school has worked with musicians like Maestro Ailton Nunes and vocalist Pitty de Menezes, along with composers Fred Camacho, Waltinho Honorato, and Rafael Thiago.
Like many samba schools, Dom Bosco has faced financial and artistic challenges over time. They've released various recordings throughout their history, from 'A Cachoeira de Paulo Afonso' in 1950 to more recent enredos. The school continues to be part of Rio's samba tradition, performing each year in the carnival parades.
