N-Gap formed in 2000 in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro, with Nelson Napolitano on vocals, André Neiva on guitar, Felipe Saboia on bass, and Rafael Ávila on drums. They released their self-titled debut album in 2002, which included the song 'Teu É o Reino.' That track became their most recognizable work, a ballad built around Napolitano's vocals.
In 2006, the band faced allegations that 'Teu É o Reino' borrowed heavily from a traditional Brazilian folk melody. They denied the plagiarism claims. They kept recording after that, putting out albums like 'Vida Real' in 2007, 'Sempre' in 2010, and 'Acústico' in 2013. Other songs in their catalog include 'Dizer Ao Mundo,' 'Adorarei,' and 'Sou grato.'
