Os Rélpis formed in Porto Alegre in 1983 with Fernando "Ferrugem" Rosa on vocals and guitar, Jorge Edemar "Marte" on bass, Zé Carlos on drums, and Claudio Martins on keyboards. They started playing small bars and clubs, mixing rock with samba and street rhythms in a way that felt raw and immediate.
Their 1992 album "A Grande Janela" gave them their signature song, but they'd been releasing records since 1985.
Beyond "A Grande Janela," songs like "Algo Aí Pro Tempo," "As Aparências Enganam," and "O Picadeiro Que Chutou Meu Bode" show their range from reflective to playful. They put out albums through the late '80s and early '90s, then returned in 2007 with "A Vida Continua."
