S1MBA is a Birmingham-based group led by Ashley Charles. Their 2020 single 'Rover (Mu-La-La)' with DTG became a breakout hit, catching attention with its straightforward energy. They've also put out tracks like 'On & On' with A7S and 'Bounce' featuring Tion Wayne and Stay Flee Get Lizzy.
Their sound pulls from drill and Afrobeat, though they've faced some criticism for explicit lyrics. The group includes members like J-Mulla, Fumez The Engineer, Kida Kudz, and Pioneer on DJ duties. They've released several singles and EPs, including 'Mechanism EP' and 'Boyhood Dreams'.
S1MBA's music found an audience without much polish or industry backing at first. They kept putting out tracks that worked on their own terms, building a following through songs that felt direct and uncomplicated.
