Will Freitas is a musician from Salvador, Bahia. His song "Feijão Queimado" from 2018 drew attention for its political commentary on police brutality in Brazil, sparking both protests and international notice. The track appears on his 2020 album of the same name.
He has worked with other Brazilian artists including Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, and Maria Bethânia. His band includes bassist Rodrigo America, guitarist Diego Freitas, drummer Fábio Albuquerque, and keyboardist Matheus Boa Sorte.
Freitas also runs the Will Freitas Institute, a nonprofit focused on music education and cultural exchange.
