A São Paulo band that sparked a revolution with raw sound and provocative lyrics during the military dictatorship.
Zero Hora's 1981 debut album '16' gave Brazilian punks an anthem. Their song 'Opressão' directly accused the military government of torture and repression. That fearless stance made them symbols of resistance in a turbulent era.
Formed in 1978, they faced police raids and censorship from the start. After releasing albums like 'Seja Marginal, Seja Herói' in 1984, the original lineup dissolved in 1989, with reunions in 1997 and 2017.
For their sound, start with 'Dezesseis'. For their spirit, 'Vírus do Mundo' still feels urgent.
