As Silence Breaks: A Journey of Melodies and Turmoil
Genesis and Early Days
As Silence Breaks, a metalcore band from Orlando, Florida, emerged in 2003. The group comprised vocalist Tim Lambesis, guitarists Craig Mabbitt and Chris Garza, bassist Phil Sgrosso, and drummer Daniel Adair. Their debut album, "The Shadows Cast", released in 2004, showcased their raw energy and soaring melodies.
Breakthrough and Controversy
The band's sophomore album, "Abandoned", propelled them to mainstream success in 2005. The title track, "Abandoned (Bam! And The Dirt's Gone)", became an anthem for fans and spawned countless covers and remixes. However, the album also sparked controversy due to its lyrical content, which dealt with themes of domestic violence and abuse.
Challenges and Transitions
As Silence Breaks faced internal struggles in the years that followed. Mabbitt left the band in 2006, replaced by Jonny Hawkins. Sgrosso departed in 2008, with Matt Good joining as his successor. The band also weathered allegations of sexual misconduct against Lambesis, who ultimately left in 2013.
Post-Lambesis Era
With Lambesis's departure, As Silence Breaks entered a new chapter. They released their third studio album, "Incarnate", in 2014, with Hawkins now handling both lead vocals and guitar. The album received critical acclaim for its maturity and introspective lyrics.
